More Scuba Diving

It was time for some more scuba diving today, and as we have to rent the equipment on a daily basis, it makes sense to do 2 dives in a day to save money.

This morning we had an early start as we headed to Marsa Shura, a dive site just on the other side of Port Ghalib. As it was a shore dive, we had to put on all our equipment on the beach and then walk into the water carrying the heavy tanks (The Wife had a 15 litre tank so she didn’t run out of air again!).

Once in we headed around the shallow sea grass area trying to find some turtles before heading out towards the reef in the centre of the bay. There were some lovely fishes and a few big shoals to see, but no turtles. This time none of us ran out of air too quickly and we headed back to shore.

For our afternoon dive, we actually changed our original plans as we were told the wind and currents would make the dive site a little dangerous and so we ended up getting a boat out of Port Ghalib again and going to the same bay we’d been snorkelling to on Monday.

Entering directly from the boat we headed down and along the reef that we’d snorkelled at the top of and saw some nice shoals as well as a moray eel, although we would have got a better view of it had one of the other divers not disturbed all the sand.

After The Wife’s air problem on the dive at the house reef on Tuesday, this time it was my turn to run out of air and buddy breathe with the dive master for part of the journey back to the boat.

Apparently this happens because it’s been a long time since we dived and so we’re not used to controlling our breathing. Maybe if we did more dives we might get better. Regardless, on my next dive I’m going to get the larger 15 litre tank as well.
