Olympic Commuting
Day 3 of commuting during the Olympics (I was off work sick yesterday!) and it’s getting busier. Today is the start of the athletics at the Olympic Park and so more people are expected to be travelling on the trains and tubes.
There was standing room only on the train when it got to Ebsfleet and hundreds of people jumped on. I think the majority of people here are stupid though. With 8 trains an hour to Stratford and the Olympic Park you would get one of the six that actually start at Ebbsfleet instead of getting on one that’s half-full of commuters already, surely? 7 minutes isn’t going to make that much of a difference to your day and you’re guaranteed a seat.
Coming out of the station at St Pancras there were long queues of people waiting to get into the station that stretched half the way down to Euston Road. Hopefully those queues will be gone by the time I leave work, although Southeastern are saying that there will be separate queueing for season ticket holders. Let’s wait and see…
UPDATE: Well I don’t know what all the fuss was about. So far my trains haven’t been totally rammed, there’s been no queueing and they’ve run on time!
