Watching Out For Watch_Dogs

When the PS4 was announced last year, there was one game that stood out for me more than any other and that was Watch_Dogs. Its visuals looked slick and the main premise appeared to be really good, wander around Chicago (been there!) hacking networks to (we presume) bring down some big corporation. There was obviously a lot of back story that had yet to be filled in but it went to the top of my must-play list.

But then GTA V went and got released and became the hit of the year. Ubisoft saw how good GTA V was and realised Watch_Dogs wasn’t anywhere as good as it and slammed a massive “Delayed” sign on it. At the time it was due to be a PS4 release-day game, a game to herald the dawn of next-gen consoles. The fact that they appear to have been embarrassed by what is now a last-gen game is a bit worrying!

So nothing was heard from the developers for months. No new gameplay videos, no story details, nothing. Until today when they finally gave us a release date – May 27th – a teaser trailer and a bit more information about the main story. Has the six month delay mean that they’ve managed to create a game that is better than GTA V?

Let’s hope so, because that can only be a good thing!
